Natalie Silva came to the Coachella Valley in 2022 carrying over two decades of experience — from the trattorias of Milan to the sun-drenched Riviera Bordighera. She didn't open a café inspired by Italy. She opened one that simply is Italy.
A Name That Says Everything
Sottovoce — Italian for "in a soft voice" — isn't just a name, it's a design brief. Unhurried mornings, genuine espresso, and the sense that no one here is in a rush to move you along.
A Space Built for Everyone
Before Sottovoce, Natalie opened L'Elephant — Milan's first above-ground gay bar — and that instinct for radical welcome carries forward. You'll find regulars who linger all morning, first-timers who feel instantly at home, and staff like Rudy and Joshua who remember your order.
The Coconut Cake Situation
The espresso is exceptional, the panini are handcrafted, and the gelato is the genuine article — rare in the desert. But ask anyone: the coconut cake has its own reputation, and it earns it every time.
Two Locations, One Soul
What started on El Paseo in Palm Desert — the Rodeo Drive of the desert — has since grown to a second home on North Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs. Same Milan-born warmth, same craft, different corner of the valley.
